A daring experiment of visual music and organic technology
It started from the fabrication of digital hubs but, has it turned out it will make you feel like having an intimate hug, such is the chemistry coming from the new media performance "Digital Hug". The Hong Kong musician/artist GayBird and his group of "musical frankensteins" developed a series of custom-made musical instruments that will be played in synchronisation with interactive images in the live performance.
This production emphasizes on "new instruments for new music". GayBird is intended to explore the feasibility and performance capacity of electronic music in live. The visual and sound effects put away the common concept that electronic music is icy cold. In Digital Hug where warmth would touch the audience' hearts and where the vitality of integrated electronic music will be genuinely shown.
GayBird, with professional training in music composition
and electro-acoustic music at the Hong Kong Academy
for Performing Arts, he has been active in Hong Kong pop
music industry, and also a core member of PMPS. In recent
years, he began his venture in new media art experiment
and finished his Master of Philosophy at the City University
of Hong Kong specializing his research and creation in
human control interface design, new media art and
the interactivity of live music performance with
application of media technology.
With his broad experience across different spheres,
GayBird's works beyond music just for listening, but
a cohesive work combining visuals, mechanism,
programming, craftsmanship and installation art,
that could offer a comprehensive music experience.
